GUIDED TRAIL RIDES - SPRING THRU FALL, Monday - Saturday (WEATHER PERMITTING)
BY RESERVATION ONLY & CLOSED SOME HOLIDAYS SUCH AS EASTER, MOTHER'S & FATHER'S DAYS. *** NOTICE *** we are changing our Sunday Policies ....
as of 6/1/13 - if you do NOT already have a ride scheduled on a Sunday .... please try & find time on other days, to ask for.
We have aging parents that we need to visit with more often & between Sunday Holiday's that we are closed (such as Easter, Mother's Day & Father's Day) & needing to Visit/Help them often, (sometimes they come here to visit & we want to spend our day with them).... & then the amount of work we need to put into our new place ..... we simply MUST make some time on weekends, when the MenFolk are home to help/visit/available to go along; so SUNDAY RIDES ARE GONNA BE RARE ..... I do hope y'all can understand - as your parents aren't around forever ...... Also, considering being closed ALL Sundays in 2014; not sure yet.
( * this is an increase from previous years - so literature from 2012 & earlier, you will see an outdated price ... I have literally paid twice as much as normal - for hay - since summer 2012 because of the hay shortage, & grain is ever increasing, too.) Keeping them in good condition (food, supplements, Shoeing & Chiropractic Services) - are not cheap. It gets done because they NEED it & we Love them.
NO REFUNDS - AFTER WE LEAVE & START OUT TO THE TRAILS.
NOTE:
Something about pricing that you may not know .... the less expensive stable usually CAN take smaller children & large groups;
& must keep to a WALKING Pace to accomplish that .... they need QUANTITY of guests, to operate this way.
They also usually have a large herd of horses - therefore you may or may not, be able to 'request' a favorite horse.
We call our rides 'Trail Riding ADVENTURES' !
We DO NOT take small children or large groups, & DO pick up the pace if riders are able to .....
Our horses take larger/Adult riders - at a faster pace & use more energy on our Rugged Trails.
So - our horses do not go out as often, as those in a normal public stable - as we do not want them to be tired.
Also - your "ride time" does not start till AFTER your instructions & we head out to the trails .... instead of being included.
although you WILL want to factor in that extra time - into your schedule....
& as always - we can stop & get a great pic of you , in some pretty spot - out on the trails !
We usually have 8 or less horses, at any time. Requesting a favorite or asking to try a new one - usually isn't a problem.
Hence we are not the cheapest stable - ride with us once & you'll understand - feel free to research & shop around !
( 7 4 0 ) 3 8 0 - 6 2 3 0
RESERVATIONS are ONLY by Phone ; Same Day possibilities are about ZERO ; & NO Drive In's - PLEASE !
We recommend you call atleast the day before, to reserve your ride.
( If we are very busy, we may not return calls until evening.)
One of our Specialties are SUNSET Rides - WEATHER PERMITTING.
AS A SMALL STABLE - WE SPECIALIZE IN COUPLES & SMALL GROUPS, EXCLUSIVELY.
We usually have 8 or less - 'working' horses; & usually NO MORE than 4 guests on a ride .
IF THIS IS TO BE A SPECIAL OCCASION OR SURPRISE; ASK US TO ARRANGE A SPECIAL AMENITY - SUCH AS FLOWERS, A TOAST, OR PICNIC STOP. (ADVANCE NOTICE & FEES APPLY.)
& FOR THE MORE SEASONED RIDERS ..... WE CAN OFFER TRAILS UP TO YOUR ABILITIES !
WE WILLTAKE YOUR PICTURE FOR YOU ..... SO, DON'T FORGET YOUR CAMERA !
The details of your group, (age, weight & experience) - MUST be provided with your reservation; so we can schedule the right horses for your group.
One rider per horse - NO exceptions ! NO unguided riding - NO exceptions !
We require helmets for everyone under 18. We provide the helmets & Adults have a choice.
ANY rider under 18 - has to have an adult sign for them .... we will discuss it when you make your reservation.
Long Pants highly recommended & NO open-toed shoes ! (Tennis Shoes or better).
Some exceptions to age, are possible --- based on Experience, Activities, &/or Temperment of the child .
But, we make no false pretenses .... we have neither 'Little Kid - horses' ; nor 'Little Kid - trails'.
It is called "Trail-Riding Adventures" for a reason; & my guests are mostly adult couples.
YOUR EXPERIENCE HERE - WILL BE UNIQUE FROM OTHER TRAIL RIDING STABLES. THE HORSES ARE TRAINED TO LISTEN TO THEIR RIDER; NOT JUST FOLLOW THE TAIL IN FRONT OF THEIR NOSE ..... YOU WILL BE TAUGHT ALL THE BASICS & ENCOURAGED TO BE A 'PARTNER' WITH YOUR HORSE. WE ALSO DO NOT HAVE A STRICT 'WALK' POLICY .... WE RIDE ACCORDING TO TRAIL CONDITIONS & WHAT THE SKILLS OF THE RIDERS ARE (OR WHAT THEY CAN LEARN). WE TROT (2nd Gear) & EVEN CANTER (Slow Run) ON MANY RIDES.
WITH US - WE DO NOT WANT YOU TO FEEL LIKE 'JUST A PASSENGER' ; WE WANT YOU TO 'LEARN TO RIDE' !
Weight Limits: are 20% of the weight of your steed, for rugged trail riding, including saddle. That is for the horses in the Prime of life; for an older horses (we have several) - that percentage must be carefully adjusted to what that horse can handle. A small horse weighs 700-900# / avg. horse 1,000 - 1,200# / X- Lrg 1,300 to 1,500 # & a full Draft is 1,600 - 2,000+ pounds. We have them in each weight category & age group.
We have 3 Draft Horses, for the heavier rider ..... (these horses, are both Bulky & Tall)
"LUCY" - is Half Draft / Half Arabian .... this means she has size & a little 'Spark' to her behavior.
Though a GREAT trail horse .... she often gets a case of 'Antsy Pants' & does better for men than women.
She has a large saddle & can take a Novice rider of an Adventurous/Bold type; up to 300#.
Her daughter, the 2008 filly "MYSTI`K" - is already a good trail horse ....
and can be ridden by a Bold/Adventurous Novice rider; up to 300# & has an oversized saddle ---
Male or Female rider, results are the same - she does not seem to have Mom's "Tude", LOL.
She is mostly Neck Reining (one-handed) at this point - but, still will mature a little more.
Be aware, she's determined to try snacking along the trail ! LOL
The Father, "STROKER" is a ONE-TON (2,000#) Percheron (full draft) .
Though new to the 'working life' in 2012 - instead of just the occasional ride with friends & 'training sessions'- He has shown that he has an intelligent & mature mind, & has done many successful rides already,
& is agile for his size. As you are sitting 6 Foot in the air ... he is not for everyone, LOL ...
& is still two-handed. He has an oversized saddle & can take riders @ 400#.
