$TBD - 2 to 4 Hour Trailer Out 'Specials'.
(This will involve trailering the horses over near the far side of the trail system & ride the area of 21 Horse Cave - without doing it as an All-Day 8 Hour Butt-Buster ride).
(I need a proper sized Horse Trailer first)
(Fee for 2 riders - our usual ride has 4 riders).
So, for an extra $25 PER PAIR/per half hour - means a GUARANTEE I'll put no one else on the ride - without your consent & dropping the Fee. Excludes the Wranglers, & you'll need to be first to reserve that time slot. If you luck out & it's only you 2 going - enjoy!
** This DOES NOT mean an un-guided ride.** (If you have a Riding Club Card - it'll be double hours off your Card).
I need to watch my bottom line, so it can't be too little & I didn't want to charge "double". I also don't expect everyone to want to pay it ! Our groups are always small - 4 riders is max right now. I'm doing less rides, so I expect to basically fill all appointments with 4 riders.
Fee will also drop if you have to reschedule with others - due to rain, etc. I thought a long time about this & I hope Y'all think it's pretty fair.
All-Day Rides are not available at this time and the longest ride currently is 4 Hours. When I've a Horse Trailer of my own, I'll arrange 2 - 4 hr "Specials" - over to that end of the trails.
CASH ONLY - NO Credit / Debit card option.
Gift Certificates can be purchased any time by mail, & Rider's Club Card (packages of hours) are available. I'll take checks or money orders for pre-purchase of those items. Or you can "Pledge & Pay" cash for your club card at the 1st visit of the year.
NO REFUNDS - after we leave the Mounting Block & start out onto the trail. If you are too scared - admit it ! We will gladly help you dismount, & you can wait while the rest go on the ride - at no charge. Farm Cats provide company.
AGES : 18 years and older - >* - No Experience - *<
* 17 yr olds need 10 hrs.
* 16 yr old needs 25 hrs.
* 15 yr old needs 50 hrs.
* 14 yr old needs 100 hrs in the saddle.
* "Experience" does NOT include being led around, or doubled.
> NO-ONE UNDER 14 YEARS OLD ! <
We have no 'Little Kid' horses, trails, or Kid sized saddles.
It is called an "Adult Adventure Activity" for a reason; & our guests are mostly adult couples.
I simply feel the horses I have at this time - are not suitable for most younger kids to ride. They have retired or passed on. NO double riding, & NO un-guided riding ... NO EXCEPTIONS ! (Read more in RULES - Below).
Keeping them in good condition (food, supplements, Shoeing, Vet, & Chiropractic Services) - is not cheap !
It gets done because they NEED it & we LOVE them !
So, $100 for a @ 2 hour ride - is competitive with some stables in the area; IF you consider what you get (or are looking for) in your Ride. We are very small, give you lots of hands-on time & experience, one on one time; & can ride into the Hocking State Forest, with all its glorious & rocky terrain !
(See 'Note' about pricing, at bottom of this page)
ACCURATE details of your group (age, experience in hours and weight within 10lbs) - MUST be provided with your appointment; so we can schedule the right horses for you, & a given horse's workload for the day. ALSO the reason for NO Drive-In's or Walk-Ins.
A Novice Rider has Zero to 10 Hours Riding Experience,
a Beginner has 11 to 40 Hours Experience,
an Intermediate 41 to 100 Hrs Experience,
an Advanced has 100+ Hours Experience,
& an Uber Advanced has 1,000+ Hrs Experience.
We require helmets for everyone under 18.
We can provide the helmets & Adults will have a choice.
ANY rider under 18 - has to have an adult sign for them .... we will discuss it when you make your appointment.
Long Pants NEEDED & NO open-toed shoes !
(Tennis Shoes, Hikers, or Cowboy Boots - are required).
Weight Limits: are generally about 20% of the weight of your steed for rugged trail riding, including saddle (Saddles can weigh anywhere between 25-50#). That is for the horses in the prime of life; for an older horse - that percentage must be carefully adjusted to what he/she can handle.
A small horse weighs 700-900 pounds, an average horse 1,000 - 1,200 pounds and a X-Large horse 1,300 to 1,500 pounds. A full Draft is 1,800 - 2,000+ pounds. We have them in the three larger weight categories & many ages. We have 3 Draft/Draft cross Horses for the heavier rider ..... (these have Big Bones & Feet, & are Bulky, & TALL). As of 2025 we can take ONE rider above 250lbs (275lb limit) for ONE (1) hour max. More weight details HERE
Inaccurate rider info - has become increasingly commonplace, & it's NOT acceptable or smart in this industry. It's a serious safety concern. We have modified a Scale, & Riders will be checked on it (no numbers - just a Pie Chart will be seen, photo below) - when they turn in their release forms (a legal document).
Riders who refuse this safety check, will FORFEIT their ride !

In addition, we also reserve the right to refuse service if we suspect you are high or drunk, as these are SAFETY issues and affect your ability to control and balance on your horse.
There are small Saddlebags for you to take items with you on the ride. Such as a drink bottle (No Glass), Snacks, Camera or Cell Phone, Sunglasses, Bugspray, Gloves, Wallet/Keys, Etc. We do not want you losing things out of your pockets, & if you bring a raincoat / jacket, we can tie it behind the saddle. NO trashbag thin ponchos allowed!
Due to Metabolic concerns - Apples & Carrots are OUT.
You are welcome to bring "Low NSC" (Carb + Sugar) treats (FB Album Link) or ask me ... but PLEASE leave them in your vehicle till we tell you. They need the bit out of their mouth, & be offered water first. We also keep safe Horse Treats on hand here. You can purchase some varieties at any TSC @ $12 as of 2025 (again MUST be on my approved list), or donations are welcome to stock our Treat Treasury.
Purina's OUTLAST Treats - are also like Tums for Horses !
Your experience here - will be unique from most other Trail Riding Stables. The Horses know routine - but are trained to listen to their rider above all else - not just follow the tail in front of their nose. You will be taught all the basics & encouraged to 'Partner' with your Horse. We also do not have a 'Strict Walk Policy'. That doesn't mean we'll be racing thru the Forest Trails ... we ride according to trail conditions & what the skills of the Riders are (or what they can Learn). We often Trot or Gait (2nd gear), & even a little Cantering (3rd Gear/slow run) on many rides.
With us - we do not want you to feel like just a 'PASSENGER'. We want you to learn to RIDE !
If we cannot provide the services you need - please, contact another stable in Hocking. You can find their links on our 'links' page.
1. MILITARY (Past or Present), Firefighters, LEOs, EMTs and other 1st Responders along with Veterinary staff - $5 off each member of your group. Discount can be combined with all others (must show ID).
2. Groom Help - ALL morning rides along with all 3 & 4 hr rides are Groom-N-Ride.
Learn how to groom a horse ... come early + get dirty = earn a discount ($10 off per rider).
3. HHTA - Hocking Hills Tourism Association - (Members & Employees), get $5 off per rider.
4. Donate to our 'stuffed animal fall round-up' = starting Sept.1, accepting NEW animals - for the 'Toys to Share' Christmas program in Hocking County. $1 off for each small toy & $5 for med/lrg toy. Max $5 off per rider/day.
Something about pricing that you may not know .... the less expensive stable usually CAN take smaller children & large groups; & must keep to a WALKING Pace to accomplish that .... they need QUANTITY of guests, to operate this way and keep up with costs. They also usually have a large herd of horses - therefore you may or may not, be able to 'request' a favorite horse.
We call our rides 'Trail Riding ADVENTURES' !
We DO NOT take small children or large groups, & DO pick up the pace if all riders are able to .....
Our horses consistently take larger/Adult riders - at a faster pace, & use more energy on our Rugged Trails.
So, our horses do not go out as often as those in a normal public stable - as we do not want them to be tired.
Also - your "ride time" does not start until AFTER your Q & A / instructions and we head out to the trails, instead of being included in that time. You WILL want to factor the extra time for grooming and more into your schedule.
We'll also stop & get a great pic of you - in some pretty spot on the trails!
We only have 9 horses as of March 2025, one is retired, one is limited-duty, one is slowing down due to age and two are in training and are wrangler horses only currently. We'd like to have 12 working horses, eventually.
Hence we are not the cheapest stable - ride with us once & you'll understand - feel free to research & shop around.
